Jeff Atterbury grew up in Texas before moving to San Jose, California at age 12. He attended Bellarmine College Preparatory and went on to earn his degree in Law & Society from UC Santa Barbara in 1996. After working as a claims adjuster for AAA, Jeff attended Santa Clara University School of Law, graduating in 2003.
Jeff began his legal career as a prosecutor at the Contra Costa and Santa Clara County District Attorney's Offices, where he spent eight years and conducted over 60 jury trials to verdict. He then spent six years as a defense attorney for a major insurance company, handling motor vehicle and personal injury cases and completing over 20 jury trials. This experience gave him an intimate understanding of how insurance companies defend, value, and settle claims, knowledge he now uses to his clients' advantage.
Jeff subsequently joined a plaintiff's personal injury firm, where he spent five years fighting for injured people and achieved multiple favorable jury verdicts. He now brings that same aggressive advocacy to Burneikis Law, P.C., combining his insurance industry insight and proven courtroom record to pursue just compensation for clients whose lives have been upended by the negligence of others.
Jeff is a member of the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. Outside the office, he enjoys time with his young son, volunteering at school, camping, water sports, reading, and fitness.
